LAKE ELSINORE - Firefighters halted the forward progress of a 10- acre brush fire that broke out in a community in the Lake Elsinore area today, authorities said. The so-called Gillette Fire was reported at 4:48 p.m. in the area of Akley and Gillette streets above Lakeland Village, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department. No injuries were reported, no structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered, she said. A total of 140 firefighters, backed by two water-dropping helicopters and two air tankers, mounted an aggressive suppression effort and halted the fire's spread after about 10 acres had burned, Hagemann said. Firefighters from San Bernardino and San Diego counties and the Cleveland National Forest were assisting in battling the blaze, she said.
